Incorrectly located image.

I created a database file for NL1051S NA Mustang and uploaded the image, but ended up with it filed under N1051S Maule.

How do I rectify this please?

I would leave it as is.

The actual registration number for the airplane is N1051S...the "L" is for limited category.

There is a rule in the FAA regs that you must identify an aircraft that is either in the experimental or limited category. Most place the word "Limited" on the aircraft but the FAA has a provision for the use of "L" or "X" in the registration number instead.

Hi Malcolm

Your mustangs most current ID was N51KF before it crashed. Its previous civil IDs were N1051S, N751CB, and N12067 since SOC from USAF.

Since there was not a DB entry for the P-51 N1051S, you should have created one, on N51KF's page. After the link is created, then you could upload your pix to N1051S the P-51 not the Maule.

It's fixed now

Also as Ztex pointed out; Drop the X or L or R from the N register when looking or creating a new DB link....

The actual registration number for the airplane was N10515

It's last registration was N51KF. It was destroyed in a crash in 1995.

The last few post and links got me thinking, or more correctly ...looking.

I went through my collection of FAA microfiche, regarding the S versus 5 info posted on various websites, about this particular mustang.

This info, from FAA fiche 1977 MMS Code monthly 04-1977

45-11371 N1051S Mustang Aviation Inc. 6165 W. 10th Ave Hialeah FL.

Many thanks to both of you for your comprehensive responses and also for the interesting links. Never cease to be amazed at the amount of data that is often available behind a single reg.

Just remains for me to remember to drop my X's, L's and R's( and mind my P's and Q's as well!)

So...this is N1051S and not N10515?

I looked it up in my 1992 copy of the Warbird Directory and it says S in there...

the search for the truth is on!

You guys are clearly half way round Tattenham corner and I haven't left the starting gate!

I don't wish to start an argument across the big pond but I have to express a preference for the reg system we Brits have. Always consistent and entries are never re-allocated. Perhaps a tad less interesting as a result.

Please feel free to tidy this one up after me if further revelations so dictate!

OK...I talked with someone who was very familier with this airplane over on the WIX forum - ( www.warbirdinformationexchange.org ) - and they confirmed that the registration number was indeed N1051S.

Well done, totally nailed I think!

Incidentally I noticed that the image has a marked magenta colour cast and a rather grainy background.

Do I simply delete the current image and upload the improved one?
