Aircraft identification

Is anyone able to identify this airframe please.

It seems to be a PT-22 and the photo was taken at Wroughton Airfield in the UK in May 1989.

It had belonged to a Vic Norman and from another image appears to have an 'N' number applied to the rear side of the fuselage in a small typeface.

There is a photo of this aeroplane on the Air Britain site, at Badminton 14/7/91

showing it as N56028 cn 2014. It is shown as a Ryan ST3KR rather than PT-22.

There are photos of N56028 on ADC in a later colour scheme and also

illustrating it's unfortunate demise.

I'd venture to say it is a Ryan St-3KR with Kinner R-440 radial ordered as a PT-21 but when photographed finished in civil livery. The Ryan PT-22 had a Kinner R-540-1. Definitely on the mark on airframe ID as both were identical, only differing in engines and main users.

Well spotted Rob, exactly right and many thanks.

I may try to 'tart up' the image and upload to ADC to illustrate it's previous condition.

Also thanks to you Doug for the additional information. The FAA website states that the engine is a Kinner R5 series, but lets not go there again!
