I see where the problem is the photographers just putting a number as an ID when it is totally inappropriate. Why "51" on these formation shots? and the Russian plane with "51" on the tail is not an ID. I've seen lots of photos ID'd this way, which is not good.

What I find difficult to understand is that some of these images have been uploaded on a site elsewhere and are correctly identified, but the site in question has strict screening conditions!

It's the old old! The openness of this site provides both strengths and weaknesses and unfortunately it can be seen that some seem to take advantage and go the easy route when uploading and we can see the results. I personally am not put off by this and I hope that those who value the site and have an interest in the accuracy of the data it provides, will help correct errors as they come across them.

I'm more than willing to give it a go!

I cleaned up the 51 mess, the best I could. Had to add a few new frame IDS.

I cannot do anything about the double entry created for the Viggen.

(That is one for Ken to fix)

Just wish others would do a little research before uploading as many photos as they can just to break some sort of record?!?

(adding a photo to an existing listing, just because the "painted markings match"...does not always work.)

The NF-5A-2000 look like the Turkish Stars Demo team. One of the aircraft in the formation is marked 51 on the tip tank,

which corresponds to its Turkish AF serial 71-3051 (cn 3051) ex RNAF bird K-3051 built by Canadair. (Hope I got that correct!)

I openly admit that I deliberately didn't attempt a clean-up prior to my posting as I wanted to use this as a not unusual example of the mess as you call it that exists in so many areas of the database, and I am grateful to you for the work you have done.

Possible solutions to the problem will hopefully be discussed in another thread but I do have a concern that as each day passes, the mess will expand unless some action is taken.

No criticism of Ken, no single person would be able to control the situation - it's undoubtedly needs other committed individuals to help out.

Let us talk further in the other thread.
