what is 'Weight Limits: S-12' ,s-30, s-55 etc. ?

First, let me say, I've really enjoyed visiting this site over the past year or so. It is Very well done and a great community. Good Job!

ok, my question:

I've looked everywhere I can think of, FAA, Flight Manual Internet etc..

at SkyVector (for example) airports have a weight limit, but I can NOT find what the codes mean; s-9, s-12, s-30, s-55 etc...

I have surmised that they are in a area of 12,000, 60,000, 90,000, 150,000 lbs etc.. But no chart or FAA information.

I've also figured that single, dual and tandem wheels have something to do with it, but again, no 'chart'..

Can one of you pilot types help me?

It's driving me Nuts! I like to know things and even with my being an internet programmer, I can't find it and my head is now hurting.

if you look at, lets say this at SkyVector , you'll see under Runway 17/35, you'll see:

Dimensions: 4185 x 30 feet

Surface: Asphalt in Good Condition

Weight Limits: S-12

The third line 'Weight Limits: S-12' What is That?

Different airports have different numbers.

I want to take a G-I (32,000 lbs) to Austin, TX USA and there are several airports near my sister.

Georgtown (S-12), Austin Executive (Birds Nest)(S-90), Lakeway (S-9), Spicewood (S-12) and Burnet Munp. (S-30)...

If Every airport has this limit, Why is it So hard to figure out what it is?

I have a plane, I'm looking for a pilot, but I'd like to know now, not when the pilot is found, Now... :) Looking for a house in Austin could totally depend on the airport, who wants to drive right past the airport 5 mins from home if it can't take the craft when I could have bought a different house, closer. (I'm used to DET (Detroit City Airport S-75/D-135) being 10 mins from home).

I've been looking for a long time ( I work from home on line 20 hours a day, so I have Way Too much time to invest in answering my own questions ). I had to refine what I was looking for, finding 'more correct' terms etc..

I found a text document that has a paragraph that sums it up just fine. I use this site All the time for books and documents, but I obviously never thought to look for this information there,,,, duh...

Internet Archive (org. 'WayBackMachine') they have everything, books, website archives, music, etc..

Here is the PDF file on my site..

Sorry about the name, but I use Only Linux and my naming convention is much nicer than MS windows...

I replaced the spaces and special characters with hyphens and under scores, but... the end after the last under score, LRO9......pdf is the original name.

... hmmm I had to reduce the name even farther, as this forum didn't like the length or structure of my file name.. Had to shorten it, but you'll get it...
