Does anyone know if this helicopter is now in the United States? If it is, can you tell me where it is, as I was one of the crew chiefs on board the USS Iwo Jima who put it together on the way over to VN.

Thanks a lot for the information about where this ship is located. I had no idea that it ever came back from Viet Nam.

I was the first Crew Chief on it, from April, 1965 until May 1966, when I came back to the U.S. It would be interesting to know more of the history about it.

We put 77 UH-1D models together on board the USS Iwo Jima enroute to Viet Nam in April, 1965. The test flights were to fly them off the Iwo Jima into VN. Evidently, the Army upgraded the ship to a UH-1H model to give it more power.

Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know where the ship is now. I am glad it made it through. So thanks again.
