So, can any of you learned members of A-D help me identify the following aircraft types and/or tail/registration numbers:

I know the black helicopter used to sit at Fullerton for quite awhile. It was used as a movie prop. Dont believe it ever flew.

The second photo looks to be a BD-5 but Im not sure what the little engine is doing on the side.

The third photo is a Rutan Variviggen homebuilt.

Ill look into the F/A-18 prototype. I have several friends at work that built the 2 YF-23s here in Hawthorne. They also volunteered at the museum restoring their birds.

re the black helicopter:

I Googled Bell 204-SS as displayed on the tailboom. A Wikipedia article describes the Aerocraft Stealth Star 204 SS, a helicopter gunship modified from the Bell UH-1B Iroquois. It was formerly known as the American Aircraft Penetrator. The article describes the aircraft as depicted in your photo. Refer also to www.stealthstar.com
