Aircraft C-FDBI

I would appreciateis someone on the site could contact the present owner of C-FDBI (an Aeronca Champ)...and ask that he/she contact me about this planes past.

My girlfriends dad once owned this plane.

Circa 1970-71,..the plane got damaged by hail.

It was white with red striping at the time...and was equiped with skiis..!!

She would like to share pictures with the present owner.

Her dad past away in 1981.

My girlfriends mom would like to place a model of the Champ next to his Urn at the funeral home(GB/RIP).

I've not found any small models of the plane to help the lady.

Last resort will be to make a replica by hand (I'm very model savy,..but need dimensions).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, the gentlemans name was Jules Bourbeau (Drummondville,Qc.)

Plane was parked at St-Nicephore airport ( Drummondville Co.)

Another possibility is a custom made model of any aircraft that is available from several sources. The model maker can duplicate the paint scheme and N number if provided good photograph/s. One such source-there are several-is www.motionmodels.com They are in Coral Springs, Florida. Call 1-800-866-3172 for their catalog. This is not to be considered an endorsement of them, as I have done no business with them.

A custom-made model is not inexpensive. Several sources should be investigated before you make a decision, and it may take several months for delivery after ordering. Just go to the web to find others.

I built from a kit the aircraft model I learned to fly in. There are kits for the Aeronca Champion. You might contact a local modeler's shop.

With a little creative reverse engineering I'll be able to make the model as expected.

The 17" model you propose won't fit in my father in laws Case..

But from the pictures I'll be able to scale to proper dimension...

once again...thanks!!

For everyones amusement...I'll attempt to attach a picture of my father in law with his Champ...

My dad was an inflight test engineer with Pratt,...so I grew up understanding a Landing is a controled crash...

So no promises with my attachment!
