What jet is this?

Folks, I've seen a lot of US and foreign military aircraft in southern Nevada, but never one like this. It is similar to an M-346, but I'm not getting very far on the ID. Can anyone help? Thanks!

looks like an Alpha Jet, but yeah cant make out what it says on the tail

Here is another photo. There were two of these jets. This is the other jet, and I can make out "USA" on the tail, but not the proceeding text. In both cases, I'm sorry for the poor quality images.
