Can anyone confirm the identity of the Stearman in the attached photograph please? It was photographed at Herndon, Florida in November 1979 and is believed to belong to the Rosie O'Grady Flying Circus.

Could it be the one-of-a-kind Travel Air Special Stearman racer ala 1925 with clipped wingtips? That had a balanced rudder with cut-away bottom as shown. The wing struts seem right. The later about 1926 Stearman C-3 is similar, but different from the racer. Sorry, have no photos of the racer.

Eventually to Civil registry as Boeing E75 c/n 75-5129

1977 owner: Lyon Flying Service Welsh, Louisiana.

I wonder because of those square clipped or added wingspan modifications together with the odd-shaped non-PT-13 rudder whether it may have been Experimental or Restricted classed as perhaps a cropduster in its past?
