I was perusing the December issue of National Geographic. On the last page is a crystal-clear photo of a Pan Am Clipper, taken in the early fifties. The tail no. Is N1042V. The name on the nose LOOKS to be " clipper western star ". On the web site PAN AM ,there is an exstensive list of pan am clippers and names and N1042V is absent and it's fate is unknown. Anybody out there with answers ?

I have learned the CORRECT name of the previously mentioned Pan Am Clipper. It is CLIPPER MORNING STAR.
