De Havilland Tiger Moth A2-PIX

Two images of this aircraft were recently uploaded to the site giving the cn as OU/03/66.

Conflicting statements suggest that

... the cn is OU/03/1966 with related registrations HU-498, VT-DOY and ZS-TAJ.

... the cn is OU/10/1975 effective 23/01/2009

(from an unofficial list of Botswana registered aircraft).

Also that the airframe at some time was a rebuild for the Indian Air Force.

Any help toward a more certain identification would be appreciated.

Sold to Jim Pearce, Findon, Sussex. Sold to a S African consortium comprising Ewing, Rehrl & Andrew Torr and shipped to Rand 10.99 for rebuild by Strecker Bros; arr 6/7.1.00. Sold (01) to Air-Kraft Aviation Pty Ltd (Archie Verwey), Randburg, Johannesburg (for rebuild). On rebuild by Strecker Aircraft, Rand (2.06; 3.07) for Andrew Torr. Regd ZS-TAJ 29.8.08 to Andrew J Torr. Regn cld 17.10.08 as sold Botswana. Regd ZS-TAJ 24.11.08 (back) to Andrew J Torr . Regn cld 15.1.09. Regd A2-PIX 23.1.09 to Brett Warren, Gabarone (now quoting c/n â€œOU/10/1975â€)....from www.dehavilland.co.za/

The airframe history appears to be even more of a "dogs dinner" than I had thought with seemingly 4 different "cn's".

I propose to wait to see whether any further information becomes available, but failing that, I feel we should use the original DH cn with the last available cn added in brackets, and then add the full information you have provided as a comment at the foot of the A2-PIX profile.

There is insufficient reliable detail to create the usual registration linkages.

By all means add a few more images of the rare A2-PIX as the only surviving reg from a complex past history.
