The first airplane that my dad and I would own together. We purchased it in September 1986 and sold it in September 1990. During that time we placed nearly 400 hours on the Cheetah. I earned my Instrument Rating (yes, all the equipment worked) and my Commercial License in her as well. This was a beautiful flying airplane with responsive controls and terrific visibility. She wold indicate 127 mph at 2,400 rpm when solo on 150 hp. We were based at the now closed Tampa Bay Executive / West Pasco Airport in New Port Richey. Had four power losses (2 on takeoff and 2 at altitude) due to weird circumstances...sliced rubber connector between the carburetor and the air box, plugged fuel vents by bugs, hung needle valve in the carb from fuel sealant. We always managed to get it back to the runway (dad knew how to do a modified split S from 300 feet at Kissimmee to save the day) and still loved the flying the Cheetah. It was a sad day to see her go and I miss flying her to this day.
