Hi
I am from South Africa and new here, and I want to share something with you!
I had an experience of a lifetime today!
I took my son to a Fly-in at Andrew’s field near Struisbaai, South Africa yesterday. He is a born aviator, built his own PC flight simulator from joysticks that he tore down and used the sensors to run the simulator panel to his pc. He starts his PPL after his 16th birthday in January.
There was an MX2 aerobatic aircraft, as used by some pilots in the Red Bull Air Races. What a fantastic machine! 500kg composite plane with a 340 hp engine! It was flown my Mark Hensman, 747 pilot and member of the SA aerobatic team. . They offered flips in a 210 this morning, so back we went. I asked Mark to fly close to us for some aerial shots…….
Here goes…..
And a quick flip around for some inverted shots!
And a quick flip back!
The inverted flight lasted a good 5 minutes!
Over the Southernmost Point of Africa
A nice close-up from the top…..
A 340hp six cylinder Lycoming normal aspirated powerplant, pulling the MX2 to a VNE of 300knots!
Then Mark opened the throttle, and left our Cessna 210 standing!
My happy son!
Some nice steep turns….
Struisbaai from the air.
Approaching Andrew’s field, runway 26.
A last look at the Struisbaai Beach.
Finals!
We landed safely, and I took some pics of the 210 doing a fly past, full taps!
This what my friend looked like after his flip in the mean machine......
