  • Made a bit of a balls up and now there are two records for G-TESG. The first one with the photo is correct with the note that is was registered HB-LUP previously. Be grateful if you could remove the second record. Sorry for the inconvenience Walt.

    Thanks

  • When logging in told Server has temporary error, try again later.

  • My Norton Anti Virus blocks it. It is a malicious site: advertising-cdn.com

    Avoid like the plague.

  • Please amend description of picture AC1062132.

Should be Supermarine Walrus NOT Submarine. Where that came from I don't know.

    Many thanks

  • According to www.helis.com this should be serial 157681 c/n 2580, built as a CH-46F later converted to a CH-46E. It was transferred to the Naval Air Depot at Cherry Point, North Carolina on the 5th May 2007. It originally enlisted with Marine Squadron 1 in 1970. These helicopters had a long service life, the type not being completely retired until 2015.

    Hope this is of interest.

  • Thanks Topgun and Ehud Gavron for the solution to the problem. Being computer illiterate I wouldn't have had a clue.

  • There must be a problem. I can only see the first picture on each of my individual member pages. The rest of the page is blank.

A bit of a rum do.

  • I don't have any details of the ferry flight to Germany but Gippsland as the manufacturer was issued with the Australian dealer marks VH-IMI on the 20th October 2005 for this particular aeroplane. As a matter of interest though not relevant, this registration had previously been allocated to an HS748 which was re-registered in South Africa.

Hope this info is of some help.

  • Hello Wayne

From the numbers you have quoted I can only find four likely candidates which are Lancaster B1s in the W series.

W4192 61 Sqdn Code QR-E crashed on a mission to bomb Krupps, in Germany.

    W4164 207 Sqdn /9 Sqdn / 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit. Became maintenance airframe 4443M

    W4231 83 Sqdn / 1662 & 1667 Heavy Conversion Unit / 1 LFS / 1651 HCU. Became maintenance airframe 5451M

W4310 460 Sqdn RAAF, hit by flak and exploded near Kiel 4/4/43.

4212 and 4213 are Wellingtons in the W series. All RAF serials of the period had either three or four numbers after two letters or one letter respectively. Not sure what the five figure numbers are and the four figure numbers beginning 2 do not match any Lancaster serial batches.

If you have your grandad's squadron number, surname, RAF station it may help to trace the serials. Was he the pilot?

    Hopefully he's still there.

  • It appears this Colt (a tailwheel conversion) was withdrawn from use and sold for spares in January 2011. I find it surprising. In the most recent photographs of the aeroplane taken in 2009 at Redcliffe, Queensland, ICAO Code YRED, it looks in pristine condition. Can't see any record of an accident but maybe it was just knackered. It's possible I suppose that some of the airframe is still at Redcliffe.

  • This Ercoupe which is c/n 4615 appears to have been re-registered some time ago as N433A.

  • Logically it should be 108-4824 as the Stinsons in this registration series had consecutive c/ns. N6823M was 108-4823, N6825 was 108-4825 etc., etc.

The problem is that according to all records I can find c/n 108-4824 relates to Stinson 108 N4186G which is still current. I assume it must have been re-registered at some stage but can find no evidence so far.

Hope this may be of some assistance Peter.

    Cheers
