  • US Airways A320 down in Hudson River, NYC

Good to know that eveyone made it safely.

Ken

I was watching this story on CNN and many other local news stations, I like researching air incidents such as this, and I am amazed at that pilot's landing, he did a spectacular job.

Good Job Guys,

Perhaps its not appropriate, I have never been to New York City, but it is a city that I have wanted to visit for a very long time, and one place I wanted to see was the WTC, which, is no longer there.

I was browsing some pictures of the aircraft resting in the water, in one picture, you can see the Statue of Liberty in the background, had the WTC still been where it was, would those have been visible in the background?

I am unsure of the area of Hudson River and that..

The A320 aircraft landed opposite lower Manhattan in the Hudson River heading southerly; hence the controlled crash was witnessed by many. The pilot's only words on cabin intercom to the passengers were "Brace for impact" said in a calm manner just before the water landing so as not to create more passenger anxiety. The pilot is a specialist in the analysis of accidents and psychology of flight deck communications-ex USAF F-4 driver, among others. Saving all 155 lives, he is a hero by any definition. He soloed a glider at age 14, the youngest age legal to do so in America.

Sullenberger really knew his stuff it seems. Its great to see that he used the knowledge he obtained through gliding and through the military to safely land the large aircraft he was piloting, this man is truly a hero.

People like him are more needed everywhere to show people that not everything is impossible.
