Donald2021 Hi everybody. When I travel by plane, there is always a question that is why the plane can communicate back to the mainland. Sometimes we fly over the ocean, they can't use radio masts to communicate. Does the plane communicate via radiofrench waves or do all the radio networks in the world use the same broadcasting medium to be able to serve the airline? Can someone who has understood it give me an answer or not?
Helicopterfriend Modern airplanes use satellite communication to talk with air-traffic control. There is an older technology, High Frequency Radio, that can be used, but it is not as reliable.
