Andy,

I am sorry to hear this news. I recall that some of your photos were very nice.

Is there a reason for the removal, or just something you have decided on?

In any event, thank you for sharing your pictures in the past.

Best Regards,

???

Sorry to hear that.

I don't understand either...an explanation would be nice.

I'm not sorry to hear that. Andy Baker has been impatient, childish and continually complaining if his concerns aren't answered immediately. Ken has stated to him this is a hobby site. Ken is a busy man, an IT specialist consultant with several web sites, frequent international travel and a full schedule. Andy Baker's demands have been unwarranted and unprofessional. Ken has been wonderful about improving this site and incorporating useful changes submitted by users. Because of Andy Baker's Forum behavior I have never looked at his Home Page. Goodbye Andy Baker.

hello bluedharma

the website its self is way to slow in updateing the aircraft database i myself sent updates on 2 or more aircraft over 10days ago and still they have NOT been updated that for me is way way to slow i myself update 2 website databases and they both have full time jobs and it takes them less then 24 hours to put the NEW updated info onto there website i will be no longer updateing the aircraft data base on this site due to the fact it takes way way to long to update the aircraft info on this website.

thanks

100% True

Ken has been wonderful about improving this site and incorporating useful changes submitted by users.

Again 100% True

Doug is as they say in the U.K. "Spot-On"!

Ken has been very responsive to my requests.

I have recieved great value for the payment of $0.00.

I imagine that the members in the U.K. have also recieved great value for the payment of the large value of €0.00.

I contribute my photos for others to look at, and to promote the hobby and spirit of aviation that we all love.

Ken has been very helpful in this endeavor.

Andy, I wish you the best in the future.

It is sad to lose any photos.

However, we really do not have a right to complain about the lack of performance when there has not been any.

Live the Good Life!

Sorry to see anyone leave the site. I agree with Blue...I have received more than my monies worth ( $0 ) from Ken's hard work...

A little patience, capitalization and spell check will go a long way...

hi ken

this info still has NOT been updated ken when is this going to be done as 10days when i 1st updated the info had to send the info yet agin and STILL has NOT been updated ken and its NOT the 1st time of haveing to tell you about it.

andy baker

Sounds a bit childish to me...

hi all+ken

this is geting to be an bit of an joke now.

this site is to slow in uploading phots or is it just mine? that are slow going onto this web site

uploaded date

18th nov 2008

flile nums are 250786+797+802+803

ALL of my photos show up on the site within 8 to 10 seconds of hitting the submit button.

:)

When I was new, a short time back, I too wondered why there was such a delay in updating and approving pictures. However, having been here a little while and reading the forums, I can understand that a person has to have patience when dealing with the amount of data that is being sent. I think this site is an excellent place to display pictures and information. I really appreciate all the people involved and want to say "THANKS FOR THE HARD WORK AND HOPE IT LASTS". If you are an impatient type, maybe you should find another hobby. Thanks Ken, Blue and all the other contributors who pass out excellent information and take great pictures.

Good evening from England

I must echo the thoughts of all who have expressed thier thanks to Ken and the team for this web site, as you say for zero cost (£ for us here).

Please be aware that not all us English are the same.

Keep up the good work and if there is anything I can do to help out give me a shout

Steve

Woops...

I said €0.00 when I should have said £0... Sorry about that.

I have got to stop drinking so much coffee. ... and learn who uses what...

Cheers!

Hello from England

I would like to share my thoughts about the site

Excellent

Fantastic

Amazing

Full of information

and all

FREE OF CHARGE

I am a little embarressed by Andy Baker's outbust ( it did sound a bit childish ), but not all us Brit's are like that.

I cannot understand which info has not been updated

I remember a post by Andy Baker complaining about how long it was taking for some of his pictures to be approved, but the way I understand it, an uploaded picture is visible on the site straight away, but can be "pending approval" for sometime.

I also upload photo's onto http://www.abpic.co.uk/ and that can take upto 48 hours for a photo to be approved and appear on the site.

I think Andy needs to take a step back and think about what he has said, then appologies to Ken

I guess I don't understand what people are saying about it taking long to

"approve" pictures. As soon as I post the picture it is available on the site. I can turn back around type in the number and there is the picture at anyone's disposal.

I have pretty much taken the "approval" of the photo as a formality. I have posted 19,000 photos and Ken has yet to reject one of mine, I have put some less than ideal stuff up too. You don't have those kinds of odds on airliners.net. I probably would be lucky to have about 100 of my 19,000 photos accepted on airliners.net as Ken hasn't rejected anyone for bad lighting, blur etc. I would say it is more than fair.

Oh yeah, I have waited 3 weeks before on myaviation.net before my pictures were posted. I don't see what the big deal is. The pictures are immediately available to anyone.

I want to thank Ken for not being anal like airliners.net, where a.net will reject a perfectly good photo just because there is a dust spot in the corner of the picture that couldn't even be seen with the naked eye. He's given a lot of people a chance to post their pictures - some pictures, which most of the other photo sites would reject - including half of my own.

Paul, Zane, Helicopterfriend, Steve Stanton, chrishall and Daniel, I thank you all for your confirmatory comments supporting Ken and this free site. I realize I made some pointed comments against an unfair person attacking this site, but am entirely vindicated by your support. Andy Baker appears to be the kind of a person who would complain to his Mother-In-Law about his Wife. Or looks a gift horse in the mouth. That gets you nowhere.

5 days later

Thanks all for the praise and support. I am sorry to hear that Andy decided to leave.

I know there're a lot of things that can be improved, and I also have a long list of new features to be added. I will do my best for sure.

Thanks again,

Ken

As Daniel explained, the "approval" status is more like a way to separate photos that have been screened from those not. Screening is mostly used to check for bad or non-aviation photos, ocassionally I also find dups during the process.
