N308SF Douglas C-47A-65-DL Skytrain is now owned by Philip & Charlie Walker of Membury, Berkshire, UK, since approximately 2015, having been purchased on eBay from Universal Asset Management.
It currently resides at Coventry Airport (Baginton) in the UK, where it is being restored to airworthiness, retaining the N308SF number. When complete, projected to be during the latter part of 2023, the aircraft will be based at the former RAF Menbury (Station 466) where it was based in WW2, it's second base after arriviing in the UK at RAF Bottesford (Station 481) on 7th January 1944, before moving to Membury on 3 March 1944.
The aircraft will be operated from Membury as a tribute to Troop Carrier Command, and become a flying memorial to the men of the 436th Troop Carrier Group operating from Membury.
It will be the only C-47 still flying out of it's wartime base.
It is planeed to operate the aircraft solely in the UK for a season or two to gain experience and then operate farther afield in Europe, especially commemorative events such as the D-Day Rememberance events in Normandy. the Berlin Airllift and possibly Arnhem and others.
