Can anyone help in identifying this aircraft?

I have been unable to track it down fron the No. on the tail.

That's a Piper L-4.

It's probably 43-1145. Here is what Joe Baugher's site says about it.

1145 to France May 17, 1944. To civil registry as F-BFQY, then G-BBLH

Sep 24, 1973 (but registered with c/n 10549). Still currrent.
