C-GHCT This aircraft was manufactured in 1952 for the Canadian military and used as such until sold surplus to Tradewinds Aviation. Aircraft leased by Charlton Heston's production company Agamemnon Films for the 1982 film "Mother Lode". Aircraft crashed and sank in glassy-water landing at Lake Lovelywater, BC during filming, crash sequence used for film. Left wing spar broken. Aircraft salvaged, taken to Kelowna BC, Canada for restoration and re-registered as C-GSIH in 3/1993. Baron STOL kit installed in 11/1994. Exported to US in 1/1995, re-registered to N323RS in 6/1995. Last known owner: Legend Airways of Engelwood, CO. Last known base: KCGI, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

I looked at the photos of the Beaver before its incident and it's difficult to reconcile its 1980 photos with how it looked in the movie. What happened? It looked like it had been rode extra-hard and put away wet in such a short time. I cringed when I saw it in its condition on the movie and writhed in fear when I saw the wreck. I don't care what anyone says: the Beaver is the most rugged, simple, hardworking, earnest, humble, forgiving and beautiful plane in exitsence. To see this one in the film as it was was saddening.
But nonetheless, I just might get a model of it and paint it up to look exactly as it did in the movie. Scary to think I first saw this plane 27 years ago on film...glad she got her deserved life as she has now.
