  • New database entry for reg. 179

The database contained an entry for a Sorrell Guppy reg. 179.

I created another 179 for two images of a Fairchild Cornell which I have now added.

When searching for the Cornell under 179, the list provided only refers to the Guppy, thus inferring that the Cornell images do not exist.

Only if I click on the Sorrell in the list do the Cornell images appear.

Have I done something incorrect?

Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm

This search results behavior seems to be normal.

Both tail number 179 are listed (yours entry is second on the page)

I've noticed this while doing other tail-number searches that have more than one entry.

If you do a search by serial number T43-4640, it come up the same way, but if you search by aircraft model, your new listing shows up a top of list.

No, you didn't do anything incorrect. It's just the behavior of the database.

John

Hello John.

Thanks for that, but I still believe that it can be confusing even if it is normal.

If you enter 179 in the search on the Home page, you get 790 results.

The line for 179 on its own only lists the Guppy, so searching this way, which I would say is very likely, you would assume that there are no images of the Cornell in the database.

I think it unlikely that a stranger to the database would look at the Guppy hoping to see the Cornell.

Don't worry, I do understand!

Malcolm.

Make certain you click on the correct foil when multiple foil entries come up for an aircraft registration number when typing. If you have uploaded a mismatch-delete the photo and carefully upload it again, clicking first on the matching (correct) foil. That should alleviate registration/aircraft model mismatches.
