If I recall correctly this aircraft, a PA-28-140 Piper Cherokee, was a 1968 model year.
I know that it was owned by the Quarter to Two Flying Club that was sponsored by Lycoming Division of AVCO (nee Textron Lycoming) the aircraft engine manufacturer based in Williamsport, PA. The craft was stored at the "East Tees" on Williamsport-Lycoming County Airport (IPT) in Montoursville, PA. I did most of my pilot's training in this aircraft starting in 1972 and occasionally flew it up into the early 1980's. The airplane was metallic green on white in color and was always extremely well maintained.
I believe the aircraft was purchased new directly from Piper at a discount because it had the Lycoming engine. It was part of a "fleet" of aircraft that the club owned. Other planes included a 1958 Piper Comanche, a Lycomnig powered Cessna 172 (not sure of the year), and a 1966 Beech Musketeer. Obviously, all of the planes were "powered by Lycoming". In the late 70's the Comanche and the Musketeer were traded for a Piper Archer.
I would love to know what happened to this aircraft as it was always such a wonderful perfoming and flying aircraft.
