N77WL in Haiti Today

I've been online tracking aircraft going in and out of the Port au Prince airport in Haiti. Gen. William Lyon's Gulfstream 4 jet (N77WL) was in Haiti today. The aircraft left John Wayne Airport yesterday at 4 p.m. local time, arriving at Dallas Love Field 8 p.m. central time. After an overnight stay the plane took off this morning at 8 central time and landed at the Port au Prince Airport, time unspecified. Then at 1 p.m. EST today, the plane took off for a 31 minute flight to Providenciales International Airport on Grand Turk Island.

Of course, Gen. Lyon is the big Southern California home builder who also happens to own Martin Aviation and the Lyon Air Museum at John Wayne Airport.

It would be interesting to know why the General's plane went down to Haiti. Was he taking VIP's down there? Relief supplies?

The Lyon Air Museum at John Wayne Orange County Airport SNA, Santa Ana, CA opened to the public just last month, featuring the restored Boeing B-17 "Fuddy-Duddy" and the Douglas DC-3 "Flagship Orange County". The museum was under construction since 2007 ground-breaking. All historically-significant rare warbirds, military vehicles, motorcycles and antique cars on display are operational. An original 1939 Mercedes-Benz G4 Offener Touring Wagon used by Adolph Hitler in Germany and Poland until seized by the French Army at World War II's end is one of the significant displays. Location of the museum: 19300 Ike Jones Road at the airport.

I would imagine that they are using the aircraft for relief flights for either personnel or supplies. I saw story on the local news that showed folks loading a corporate jet with supplies and doctors, headed for Haiti.
