I always endeavour to create a database entry for any new reg I upload and have also from time to time done so for others which have been uploaded but not entered to the database. In this latter case, the image in question automatically appears against the new entry.

In the case of "Unknown", many of these can easily be identified by Googling, accessing museum sites, etc, but having created an entry for one of these, the image in question does not transfer to this entry as it clearly does not carry the identification required. Is there any way I can help with the administration by doing this?

Thanks a lot for offering your help. To solve the question you stated above, once the correct aircraft entry is created, one must change the photo's aircraft ID from Unknown to it's registry number. This must be done either by the photographer (uploader) himself/herself, or by an admin, at this time.

To use help from our members, I need to create a few tools for them. Since our site is getting larger everyday, I guess it's time to put this on the to-do list.

Thanks for that Ken.

I am happy to create the database entry but which do you think is the preferable option of the two you mention, to contact the photographer or admin. I would consider that the more certain method would be for admin to deal with it as the photographer may have moved on, not care, etc.

I will continue to create entries for others as yet not entered to the database as I find the time and am willing to assist further in any you may wish.

I am re-assured that you have plans to ,as it were, "do a bit of sorting out". 'Unknown' is one example as are the several or many duplicated entries.

With the huge dataset this site has, there're much more that require manual fix/approval other than aircraft registry number. I should be able to find some time in March to make a few tools.
