Hi All,
March 18 was the anniversary of the first controlled powered flight in Australia in 1910 by escapologist Harry Houdini, incidentally his first flight also. The aircraft was a Voisin boxkite design. After a handful of flights it was dismantled and shipped to the UK where it remained unassembled.
In honour of this occasion, an airshow was held at Melton airfield, a few kilometres from the original site at Diggers Rest, Victoria. A 1/3 scale model of the Voisin was on display in a marquee, and an attempt was made to fly a radio controlled 1/6 scale model, but each attemp to takeoff resulted in the model veering to the right before liftoff.
I have added a number of photos to my hpme page. There are a few interesting older aicraft, and some which you not have seen before. After an overscast morning, the weather cleared around 10 am to a magnificent day for flying and photography. I hope you find these phots interesting. I have a few more more common types to add a little later.
