Need help identifying unknowns

I just discovered F-16A 81-0663 is the one on display at the Air Force Museum!

Okay detectives, I just posted a T-28, a couple T-33s, three T-34s, a T-41 and a HU-16 on http://planelooseends.blogspot.com/ looking for information on these planes to tie up loose ends. I have registrations which are no longer valid and cannot find the planes on the internet. Can you help?

Your pix of the red/white T-34B tail# N34RB is currently registered as N816JB.

c/n (msn) is BG-176 (was N1237, N34RB) model - Beech D-45

The blu/wht lost T-34 #2 (N34SR) is currently N434M ( Beech A45 )

its c/n msn is G-756.

ref: your pix of " N1228U "

The camo T-34A (Beech A45) was actually registered as N12280 in the mid 80's.

It is currently N287JT with a c/n (msn) of G-287.

You may have to manually edit and move your pix, on this one.

It had been registered as N46RG, N113LA and N123RK.

The FAA lists its c/n (serial) as 86B which is unusual ! (HU-16 c/n format is G- followed by a number)

The last registration: N123RK was cancelled on 08/06/2009 (SEA & AIR ADVENTURES LLC) as destroyed in a hangar collapse Oct 2004..

On the date your pix was taken, the HU-16 was registered as N46RG, to Rich L. Gooding of Colorado. (with c/n 86B) ref: FAA microfiche..

Most sources list its c/n as G-219 USAF serial 51-7169 although the FAA has always listed it as 86B

John, you are a genius. How in the world do you find these things?!?!

I guess the shadow on the tail of the T-34 hid the top of the "0" to make it look like a "U". This was before I was recording numbers, and I tried to recover the number from the photo.

An update on you Bucker N4GP / 59-427

c/n (msn) is E3B-427 (a Spanish built CASA 1.131)

Was owned by Popma Enterprise in ILL, in 1988 (your photo-date)

It's current as N4270 but there is a pending (reserved) registry change to N88KC

The unknown Cessna T-50 Bobcat is N30L before it was recovered. Check out this website for confirmation:

Listed elsewhere as a Cessna AT-8 Bobcat ex: 41-030 flying as N30L (with Freedom Flight Inc. IL. in 1995.) ...????

Another website mentions that it had no military history...??

Now I'm really confused. Here is a photo I have of N30L taken in May 1988

So it must have been re-coverer/repainted by the time of the 1991 Oshkosh fly in when the "unidentified" plane was shot. But that old photo on the T-50 site looks older than 1988!

As for military service, N30L c/n is 3772. That is not found in the listing for AT-8. However, c/n 3772 IS found as a UC-78, AF 42-58281. Go figure.

Looks safe to ID this bird as N30L c/n 3772

N30L msn 3772 definitely puts it in the contract serial range 42-58110 thru 42-58540, although it is not shown in Joe's list.

Seems this other listing from Joe Baughers site is incorrect:

41-030 flying as N30L. Seen at Freedom Flight, Aurora, Ill 8-5-95.

The two images below, borrowed from, the Bamboo Bomber Club Newsletter #3 March 1996, explains how this could happen.

It also gives some insight to the color scheme and markings on N30L at the time you took the pix.

AT-8's had c/n (msn) of 1030 through 1062 (33 built in contract batch 41-005 thru 41-037).

Hope this clears up another little mystery...

Well, it looks like that photo from the Bamboo Bomber site IS newer than mine - it just looks old! So I am going to label my 1991 photo as N30L let it join the rest.

Baugher was at the Aurora, IL event (as was I - I just didn't know who Baugher was at the time), so he probably got the information from the airplane's markings.

Glenn, I was looking through some photos today and saw your photos of "N7020B" which you said is not a PA-22 Pacer although that's the registration.

It's actually N702DB, a Glasair Sportsman.

So, there ya go!
