This C-47 is displayed at the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, TX.

It started out as USAAF 43-48563 (c/n 14379/25824)

Then it became a Navy R4D-6, BuNo. 17278

Then it went to the civil registry as N7634C

Then to the FAA as N40

Then to the Agriculture Department as N40180 (this number is in the database)

Should I make an new entry for either it's USAAF or USN number or list it as N40180?

I assume your pix shows it in USAAF colors with its war-time mks.

I'd put it here:

http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/43-48563.html

It's linked to the other registires, except the Navy BuNo.

The early BuNo's always seem to be confusing to some posters (mistaking them for msn).

Some may comment that it's still a C-47B because of its birth or its current color scheme or an R4D,

but IMHO it's currently a DC-3C (N40180) wearing war-paint...

My 2 cents

Thanks Glen and John for the input.

I think I will put it under the USAAF number. since that is the way it is being displayed. FYI the marker in front of the airplane correctly points to it's navy number and service. The museum is a WWII glider museum so most likely they intend it to represent the USAAF, as painted.

Thanks!
