  • Missing Data/Corrections/Comments Sections

What happened to the "User Contributed Data and Corrections" and "User Comments" sections of the Aircraft profile pages? Those sections of a particular aircraft page appropriately served to add missing data or to correct extant wrong data. Frequently, aircraft owner inputs were invaluable to me and other users. The FAA data base is flawed; aircraft owners and knowledgeable users are cognizant of this. Those now missing sections allowed us to correct aircraft data. No longer have we the opportunity to use these needed sections. They were a strong feature of this aviation data website; not routinely available in others.

The Forum or Articles are simply not a substitute for the missing sections. Missing or corrected data should be able to reside as before permanently on the specific aircraft page. Then, it becomes accessible and valuable keyed to the aircraft's page data base, all in one place. They need to be restored to each Aircraft Profile page.

I think a "Comments" section would be a great idea on the pages for each picture. I don't know how much work or even if it is possible. If that does happen, I do think that the comments should be user controlled, so that we can remove any innapropriate comments if some are posted.

Thanks Mel, for your response. What I am referring to USED to be on each Aircraft Profile page. Those aircraft with added comments, corrections, data, etc have NOT had their comments removed.

But, the ability now to add new aircraft data, comments or corrections on an existing Aircraft Profile page HAS been removed.

For a small sample of added data, corrections and comments, please see my profile pages (at the bottom of each) for the following aircraft:

N2805J N6HZ N74WD N34341 N4640W N273MD N350Y

Please spend the time to look at each of them for the variety and usefulness of the old features.

Thanks again.

At the top of the page for each profile there is a line that says "submit data or post comment of this aircraft." Click on that. I've done lots of comments and added data. It doesn't always get posted right away, but it does show up after a while; I guess when Ken gets to it.

Glenn is right. There're used to be 2 links, one above and one under aircraft information section. I removed the lower one a while ago.

We go through all user posted data/comments and approve them. Until approved, they are NOT shown on the website. This is because "user-contributed data" function usually come with LOTS of spam, everywhere on the internet.

I apologize for not noticing the change in aircraft profile page layout; guess I was so used to the original layout.
