This aircraft tail number started out on a Piper Colt that was manufactured in 1960 or 1961. The plane was bought new by the Annapolis Flying Service at Lee Airport. I took my first airplane ride in this plane at the age of 12. The plane was piloted by the Flying Service's owner, Mrs. Florence Parlett. In December 1967 I soloed in the same plane. Two years later in 1969 the Piper Colt was destroyed in a tragic midair collision killing the instructor, Jim Nicholson and a student aboard. The second aircraft, a Piper Cherokee, also with an instructor and student aboard, landed safely.
