Because Airport-Data.com has grown significantly during 2007, pounding our web server to its limit in both CPU and storage, we decided to move to a better server.

Today we successfully moved the whole site to the new server, which is equipped with a Quad-Core CPU and 1.5TB storage. We also migrated the server platform to newer version. Because of this, some old code which work find on old server may fail in new system. We have done extensive tests, but it's possible that a few spots were left out.

If you find any bug or have any question, please reply to this thread.

Thank you and enjoy!

Ken

Wow Ken, great to know the site is growing that much. I'm sure all of us would like to say 'Great job, keep up the good work and mostly, thank you for the wonderful opportunity we all have here!

Outstanding!

Great Job Ken! ... And thank you!

Hi Ken,

Glad to read about the success of this web-site.

I might have discovered a bug:

When trying to "Add New Aircraft Data" for a new registration only the entries for Manufacturer, Model and Serial Nr are stored. Any other information entered seems to get lost!

Many thanks,

Henkinzweden

Hi Hank,

Thanks for the report. I will look into it ASAP.

Ken

The bug has been fixed. Thanks again.

Ken

I have just uploaded two airport photos tonight. When I go to their page (28 on my SZP) and try to preview them-either by clicking Preview or on the photo, random airport photos of other uploaders keep come up every time instead of my new SZP photos. This has never happened before. Related to new server?

Pretty sure it's caused by server upgrade. I will fix it ASAP.

Ken

Thank you, Ken. I really appreciate how well you maintain this site.

Bump....The Map feature is not working on the airport pages...

FYI

Thanks!

Hi Zane,

Thanks for the report. It's indeed a bug. I will fix it ASAP.

Ken

It's fixed. Thanks again.

Since you have changed servers, I've been having problems with some of my pictures loading. I get a message "error loading pictures-image too small". I haven't changed any settings on my camera, and its not doing it to all of my pictures so do you have any idea what the problem is?

I had a batch of photos I took before your server change and got some of them uploaded before the switch. After you switched servers, I tried to load the rest of this batch and none of them would load. Today I tried to load 4 pictures and only 1 went through. The pixel size of these photos is 3256 X 2304.

Is anybody else having problems loading pictures since the server change?

Mark Pasqualino

I think that your photos may actually be too large...Try downsizing them a bit...I load mine now at 1280x900...lots faster loading and takes up less space on the server.

I still shoot mine at max resolution but then run them through Photoshop to size them for the site.

Hi Mark,

Could you email me a photo which didn't went through, to info at airport-data.com, so I can trace the bug?

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,

It has happened to me as well...like I said I just started downsizing the pics and it works well...

Zane

It might has something to do with image shrink program. I will check it.
