  • Saab 2000 construction number 045

Pakistan Airforce bought 5 Saab-2000, 4 of them fitted with ERIEYE radars.

Three AWACS aircraft, c/n 025, c/n 040 and c/n 049 and also the VIP version c/n 019 has been delivered.

The mystery is about c/n 045. It was seen with the ERIEYE radar fitted and undergoing trials with Swedish civilian registration SE-045. But there have been rumors that the aircraft was then scrapped from the deal and no picture has emerged of the aircraft either while all others have been photographed.

There are also rumors that the aircraft went to KSA. This website's database shows it as de-registered and stored in Sweden.

Anybody got more info on it. Whether it is going to the PAF or not and the fate of the aircraft, it has a ERIEYE radar system on it afterall.

I´m Investigating for You. Anyway Swedish CAA search site says this:

I´n conection to this, it could be intresing to note that one of the PAF Saab 2000 was destroyed in August 2012:

"It was on the night of August 15, 2012 that nine fidayeen attackers dressed in military uniforms and armed with rocket propelled grenades and suicide vests, stormed the Minhas airbase. Minhas remained under attack for two hours and finally culminated in the death of two PAF personnel and all the nine attackers who were successful in their mission of destroying one of the Saab-2000 AWACS planes."

Yes, one was destroyed. Initially PAF denied it, but then the secretary defence told the truth in a national assembly hearing.

Now a little debate has been kicked off in the internet waves, with another rumor coming in that we didn't get 4 AWACS, rather only 3. And now PAF has only 2 Saab's in it's possession after one was destroyed.

So that is why my question...

Yes :-)

Anyhow SE-045 was de-registered from the Swedish Register as sold to Pakistan. Nothing on it as stored in Sweden.
