G-AJOV
This aircraft, built in 1953, was involved in an air-sea rescue off Worthing, Sussex, in 1955, when I was then aged 10. As a family, we were sailing a yacht from Shoreham to The Hamble in the Solent, when we got into difficulties, and the boat hit the shallows about 1-2 miles off the coast. This Westland Dragonfly was summoned in 15 minutes from Lee-on-Solent, and one-by-one we were air-lifted to the beach. The yacht sank in 30 minutes. I have press reports and photographs covering the whole story on that Easter weekend in 1955. I would like to know what she was used for after being decommissioned shortly after, until her retirement in 1980.
