TA122

Hi Guys, Just found the pictures of this aircraft on the site...and was thrilled to find them.

My Uncle John ( Jackie) Reid flew this craft with 605 Sqdn, I have some of his Personal Combat reports, and this craft was flown by him on the night of 6-7th March 1944, when he shot up an ammunition train about 8 miles from Gardlegen, while he was on an intruder mission...

The train completely exploded, and later, the intelligence chaps reckoned it did the same damage as a 500 bomber raid. I can post a copy of his personal report , if it's of any use to anyone.

Can anyone tell me where the aircraft is now?? I'd really like to visit it someday...

Great site, and keep up the good work.

D'oh, wrong aircraft for that mission, the above mission aircraft was UP/F....he did fly UP/G tho, on the 20/21st Nov 1943, on an intruder mission to Rennes/St Jacques and after bombing the barrack blocks and fuel storage area, shot up an enemy plane that was trying to land...it was damaged.

I also have a report of that action if needed...:)

here it is anyway...:)

Hiya, thanks for the links, I am on Mossie.org, and didnt think to look there...;)

I've just had a smashing email from Bob Glasby of the museum, turns out that it's not the same aircraft that my uncle flew, as that one was built in late 44, and the code UP/G was given in error, i assume by the museum, it's meant to be UP/O, which it will have soon....,I'm going down to visit the museum this summer, and have been invited to have a tour of it with Bob, I'm really looking forward to it...:)
