If you "Google" - how to stop the copying of internet photos, you will see that there are many other (suggested) ways to protect an image against copying.
These two I found quite interesting.
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/protect-online-photos.htm
is somewhat complex
http://skinnyartist.com/stop-stealing-my-images/
is perhaps more 'down to earth'.
However, were there an easy uncomplicated method, we would all know about it and the problem wouldn't exist!
Skinny Artist hits the nail on the head when he says
"..... the bottom line here is that if it’s on the internet and someone wants it bad enough, they can probably get it and you’re not going to be able to stop them."
As we are all aware, the internet is enormous and most of the time copying will go unnoticed. When we do come across it, putting a stop to it is often difficult if not impossible, not that we shouldn't try to do so in some cases.
I'm repeating myself in saying that a watermark is a deterrent, but since my object in uploading images to an aviation website is to share my images with like minded people, marring the image by placing a watermark over the subject seems to me to be counterproductive.
"A very remote northern part of Canada" sounds like my idea of heaven!
Good luck,
Malcolm.
