I'm used to a four seat PA28 i.e. fixed pitch prop but can anyone tell me if the three bladed Cherokee six has a fixed or variable pitch prop and if my license allows me to fly it. Not interested if variable pitch, too old to start learning new things! Also what is the power of this aircraft?

I know there is one for hire from North Weald (G-OEVA)

The three-blade prop may be an option under an approved STC. The Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six was offered with two engine choices, a 260 Hp Lycoming O-540-E as the Cherokee SIX-260 or a 300 Hp Lycoming IO-540-K as the Cherokee SIX-300. Both have constant-speed props of two blades as standard.

You should have a CFI check you out to fly any aircraft with constant-speed props and the Sixes are substantially larger, heavier and faster than the PA-28-140, 150, 160 or 235 models. The -235 also has a constant speed prop of those Cherokees mentioned., as does the PA-28R- ARROWS.

Thanks for that and I'll give it a miss as I haven't flown much in recent years. I looked at checking out with the variable pitch Arrow and found that I'd need at least a few hours to become accustomed to it and I'd rather spend that money on flying which I'm used to rather than go on a learning curve. Thanks again.
