N8566C
My father Harry Waterfield, owned this plane when I was a kid. It was a sort of safety yellow back then. He had a very short runway on the top of a mountain near his mercury mine, Jolette, near Red Devil Alaska. Dad had a bit of a crack up one time flying in. Everybody made it but it was the only transportation in to the mine. My brothers and Dad took turns manning the airplane radio trying to hail other planes that went past to get help. Eventually Dad had to hike out to Red Devil to get help. He had some supplies dropped for those left at the mine. Then he had to find someone who could drop him at the mine then ferry back with him to civilization in N8566C. The plane flew but it was too dangerous to fly everyone out before it was repaired. Our family has lots of tales about 8566Charlie. We probably have pictures somewhere as well.
