RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich (WOOD) - One person is dead after a small plane went down in Montcalm County.
Police say the pilot was attempting to take-off from the Great Lakes Adventist Academy Airport when the crash occurred Saturday at 1 p.m.
The plane crashed in the backyard of a home in the 7000 block of North Vickeryville Road, about a half mile from the airport.
The pilot, Joseph Edward Hoffman, 37, of Beaverton, Michigan was taken to a Flint hospital.
The passenger, Royal Marsh, 60, of Hope, Michigan was killed.
The crash is under investigation by the FAA.
