Our family was stationed at Chanute AFB. My dad, Air Force Captain John R. Spooner, Sr., Retired (Feb. 2, 1927 - January 24, 2014) was a tech instructor/maintenance trainer on the new F-104A. It is my firm belief that 56-0732 is the very same F-104A that my dad used for training.
My dad promoted to lieutenant at Chanute AFB and later transferred to Vandenberg AFB, CA in 1962 where he retired.
I understand that Chanute Air Museum closed in 2015. I would like to know where 56-0732 is now and obtain as much of it's history as possible. I am making a memorial and want to know if 56-0732 would have been silver when my dad used it for training or was it painted Air Force gray(?) as the pictures show? Please feel free to email me at patrotrodney@gmail.com, or call/text me at (951) 313-8774. If I cannot answer your call, please leave a detailed message and I will return your call as soon as I can. Thank you for your time and consideration.
