Hello everyone! I have recently joined and have already submitted nearly 200 photos. They are all scans of slides so the quality is not up to the standard of the digital images most of you are producing. However, I hope they will be of historical interest because they start in 1972 and I am gradually working my way up to 1994 when I seem to have stopped doing aviation photography. So, if you are interested in classic airliners and defunct airlines there may well be something to interest you. There will also be plenty of light aircraft. My main interest is in civil aircraft so I will be concentrating on these for the foreseeable future but I have quite a few taken at Boscombe Down and Fairford International Air Tattoos so I might put those on eventually.

Welcome to Airport-Data.com!
Thank you for sharing with us, and hope you enjoy the site.
Welcome!
I am a bit confused though, I don't find you in the photographer listing. Are you posting under the Peamasher name?
Zane
Great photo's Peter,
brings back happy memories of the old viewing area at Manchester on top of the Terminal building and piers.
Hi Ztex
you can find them here

Welcome to Airport-Data.com!
Thank you very much for sharing your photos with us.
I look forward to the photos you will be sharing in the future!
Best Regards,
Thanks Chris!
It's a shame that most of us will never get to see a Caravelle or a VC-10 fly.
Cool stuff!
Thanks Peamasher!
Hi Zane! All my photos (311 so far) are listed under Peter Ashton- #93 in the llist of photographers. I confused myself to begin with because I entered one photo before joining. I then registered Peamasher as my user name but all my photos are now going into the Peter Ashton gallery.
...and thanks to the others of you who have sent encouraging replies. I was expecting some adverse comments about quality but, as I had hoped, you seem to appreciate the historical interest. I still have a lot more to show you- good job I'm retired and have a tolerant wife!
Best wishes,
Peter
Well Peter, welcome to the site!
Close to a third of my shots are scanned in slides, and most of the remainders are scanned in photos, since I've only had digital for two years now. So I understand about the quality of the photo problem.
You've got some nice antiques and weird planes. Might I suggest before you get too many more posted that you sort them in some type of folder system, such as types? Makes it easier to look at and go back where I left off! You don't have to get quite as sorted as mine (I like my military sorted by types - I think it's easier that way), but just some organization like most posters do.
I am one who isn't so old (56) yet I have a couple VC10s I've seen:

I'll be looking forward to see what other stuff you have across the pond.

I'm trying to find some of my dad's old slides from his trip to England - he flew an old BOAC VC-10 on DTW-LHR back in the day.
Glenn, Thank you for your comments and advice about folders. I would prefer to sort the photos into locations and air shows' rallies to start with but I would welcome your opinion before I start. I think sorting them into types would be too big a job.
When I was about 14 (late 1950s) I used to go plane spotting at Manchester Airport. Jets were a rarity at that time but I remember that we all thought the Caravelle was a wonderful, sleek design. The early Air France ones employed a brake chute whenever the runway was wet (no reverse thrust?). I also witnessed the first visit of a Boeing 707- Sabena's OO-SJD. On a more sombre note, my brother and I listened in on our VHF radio when the crew of G-ALHG, a British Midland Canadair C-4, were desperately trying to keep airborne when two engines stopped due to fuel starvation. We then witnessed its crash into the centre of Stockport (my home town in those days), only six miles from safety. That was in June 1967 but the memories of that tragedy are still vivid.

Correction- I meant to say 'air shows/ rallies'.
