I frequently prefer to take my pictures in the largest setting on my camera to assist in reading the tail numbers. The are still within the 4MB limit but take a long time to upload. Even so they will only display as large as 1280x960 on the site. Is there a way to automatically re-size them in bulk BEFORE uploading? That is other than manually resizing each individual photo.
Uploading large files
There are several freeware photo resizing programs out there. You might check a site like download.com.
Personally, I use Picasa 3 to organize and edit my pictures. It has a nice export feature that automatically creates a copy of my photos, resizing them to a selected size, up to 1600 pixels wide (or you can export the full size if you want). I just select all of the photos I want to upload to A-D and click the Export button. When I finish uploading to A-D, I delete the copies.
It also has very nice editing features. It's not Photoshop, but it's a lot easier to use and does a nice job for me. The desktop program integrates with the Picasweb site and allows easy creation and maintenance of online photo albums, too.

I would agree with CKennedy92.
Picasa 3 is the best way for me at this time to resize and export pictures.
Another application is the FastStone Photo Resizer. http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm
Best Regards,
Thanks for the tip! It works great. I use Picasa anyways to auto-enhance all my pictures. I was unaware of the export feature. I especially need it for my new Nikon D60. However the pictures are somewhat blurry. Such as my latest picture of N432CM. I am not sure if it is the auto focus, ISO speed, shutter setting or what. Things like this happen too fast to manually focus. The lens does have Vibration Reduction. It is my first DSLR camera. My old camera is a Canon PowerShot A560. It takes clearer pictures than the new one. See here. I have several free classes at Wolf Camera later this month. There is also a class at the local Technical College. Until then I don't have much to go on. Any suggestions?

Connor,
Thanks for posting pictures to Airport-data.com!
Classes are great to take, but I have found most of my progress has been by looking at other's photos... and taking photos with one of Airport-data.com's current members.
John Little (who I met through this site over two years ago) has helped out a great deal.
Also feedback from users like Doug Robertson, Glenn E. Chatfield, and Zane Adams has been priceless!
Try to find someone in your area that likes taking pictures of aircraft like you do. You will find that no matter their level of experience, you will see your pictures improve.
It is not a competition… but rather presenting photos to another to learn and improve.
This method of constructive criticism and appraisal of photos has helped me a great deal!
John has given me small tips like setting the shutter to a higher speed. Not to expect crystal clear images when the "target" is too far away. This was very helpful!
And most of all, just enjoy the hobby!
Best Regards,

I will definitely keep that in mind. I have also found the problem that is making the pictures blurry. It is this cheap polarizing filter I got with the camera. I have removed it and am using only a multi-coated UV filter. The pictures look much better.
Thanks again,
Connor
