G-AABN is shown on the CAA GINFO database as a DH 80 Puss Moth. It is in fact a DH-60 Gypsy Moth and was flown by Amy Johnson from England to Australia in May 1930. This was shown in a recent BBC programme "High Flyers" (available until Monday 4th June} on BBC iPlayer.The Registration is shown at 28 mins and 31 secs into the programme. This quite clearly shows it to be a Gypsy Moth. It is also shown correctly on the Aviation Safety Network database as a Gypsy Moth at the following URL http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=25094
Amy Johnson's DH60 Gypsy Moth "Jason" G-AABN
I don't believe Amy Johnson ever flew Gipsy Moth G-AABN. This was Sn 802 which crashed in Stanmore, Middlesex in June 1931. Amy Johnson's Gipsy Moth is G-AAAH Sn 804 which she flew from England to Darwin in 1930. The aeroplane can be seen in the Science Museum in London. I didn't see the programme and can only assume the BBC found some old footage of AABN which they thought would illustrate the type of aeroplane Amy flew. I don't know who that is in the cockpit but I don't believe it's Amy.
The C.A. Form 113 which was handwritten and is on the GINFO site appears to be an error made back in 1929!
